  • BSc in Psychology, education and philosophy from Lancaster University
  • PGCE from Bath University

Research and other interests

  • Digital library development and management (using low-cost methods and desktop software)
  • Ebook creation and indexing (using non-proprietary formats)
  • Applying established library standards and principles to search engine optimisation
  • Semantic interoperability

Currently curator of the Glasgow Digital Library, including its ebook collection, the digital archive of The Angry Corrie, dating back to its birth in 1991, and the obscure Marilyn News Centre.

Previous practical experience includes:

  • Information officer in computer centres at Leicester Polytechnic and Liverpool University
  • Programmer and webmaster at Glasgow University
  • Manager of BUBL Information Service
  • Educational content specialist and technical consultant

Outside interests are hill walking, hill science, music, sport, the world.
