Research and other interests

Terminology issues on the Web, construction of thesauri, metadata quality control, open access.

Recent consultancy work includes:

  • Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability Thesaurus: Involved the creation of a learning disability thesaurus for use within SCLD partner library sites.
  • Information Officer for MoPark Metadata Options appraisal, led by Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park; the Scottish partner in a European-wide project. Involved establishing a metadata framework for a digital asset management system, together with an accompanying manual and associated training for Park staff in the application, use and quality control of metadata for the submission and storage of digital assets.

  • UK editor for ELIS, an international E-prints service in Library and Information Science.
